How will I be assessed?

All housing applicants are assessed in accordance with the Social Housing Assessment Regulations 2011 when they send in their completed application forms and if deemed eligible are placed in order of priority on the housing list appropriate to their needs i.e. 1, 2, 3 or 4 bed. The lists are published on a quarterly basis at the beginning of February, May, August and November, and are available for viewing at the Municipal Offices, Spawell Road.

The current priority housing lists are comprised of the following:-

1 bed –  667 persons

2 bed – 286 persons

3 bed – 243 persons

4 bed -  34 persons

Will I stay on the list?

A letter will be sent to you each year to see if you are still interested in housing. You should return the confirmation of interest to ensure that you remain on the list. Applicants must inform Wexford Borough Council of any change of address or circumstances so that their applications can be updated, failure to do so may result in deletion from the list.

When will I be offered a house?

As houses become available for letting, offers are made to applicants in order of priority. Each tenant must sign a letting agreement. Once an applicant has accepted the offer of tenancy, they must attend a pre-tenancy meeting with the Tenant Liason Officer who will outline the responsibilities of both the Borough Council and the tenant.

The Tenant Liason Officer will continue to liase with the tenants during the tenure of their tenancy, if required. The Tenant Liason Officer also deals with Anti-Social Behaviour and liases with the tenants, Residents’ Associations,  the Borough Council and the Gardai in these matters.

How much rent will I pay?

The tenant of a Council house is charged an income based weekly rent, calculated in accordance with the Differential Rent Scheme. Payments may be made in any of the following ways:

By bank standing order/bank giro
