Anti-social Behaviour
INTRODUCTION
The majority of our tenants are law abiding and are not involved in anti-social behaviour. It is a small minority that can cause problems. Wexford Borough Council has devised the following policy to deal with this problem in a fair and systematic manner.
MISSION STATEMENT
To investigate all complaints fairly and objectively, to provide a modern and professional service to those of our tenants who are victims of anti-social behaviour and to work towards the elimination of anti social behaviour in all of our estates.
POLICY STATEMENT
The Borough Council recognises the detrimental effect of anti-social behaviour. We have a duty of care to all tenants to promote the peaceful enjoyment of our dwellings. Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated, proactive action will be taken and if necessary, all legislative powers will be used to combat the problem.
OBJECTIVES
- To prevent the incidence of anti- social behaviour through good estate management.
- To reduce the level of anti- social behaviour.
- To respond efficiently to complaints.
STRATEGIES
- Work closely with the community through our Tenant Liaison Officer.
- Increase participation in pre tenancy training.
- Build closer relationship with other agencies e.g. Gardai, HSE
- Issue maintenance letters for non-upkeep of dwellings.
- Enforce legislation.
